Our very existence is determined by relationship; relationship with our loved ones, with our beliefs and most fundamentally with ourselves.  Whilst we tend to take care and be aware of the first two relationships mentioned, there is a failure in the human condition to address or even acknowledge how we function in relationship to ourselves.  Before we can ever concieve to make exterior elationships fruitful or fulfilling, we must observe how we speak to ourselves, treat ourselves and view ourselves.
As Swami Satchinada stated, 'to understand' is first to see where we 'stand' and then to go 'under', that is, to go deeper in order to appreciate that everyone has their own each and individual stand.  So when we begin to understand, we allow harmony to flourish within ourselves, leading to greater harmony with all around us. Yoga practices provide the tools we need to become more observant.  A path of practice brings with it an awareness of movements in every moment, not just in terms of the physical; but with our mental, emotional and spiritual movements too. As a witness we see our fears, tensions and emotions but from this canvas we can also begin to harness and channel the best aspects of our nature to full capacity.

To know Yoga is simply to experience it.  My first experience of Yoga came when I worked with an NGO in central India that empowered, taught and nourished underprivileged children through Yogic techniques.  The compassion, tranquillity, maturity, integrity and strength that shone through each individual child was unlike anything I’ve ever felt or observed before.  It was this, combined with the beginnings of my own self-practice that made me realise that Yoga really could be used as a tool to create a better world for the future and this is where my passion lies.  As a teacher of classical Ashtanga Yoga, I also teach Yoga and Mindfulness to adolescents and children. Yoga truly is for all irrespective of any imaginary constraints set upon by the mind or
the conditions of society.
